Orange consistently produces world class chardonnay; It is a very versatile variety that expresses beautifully as a lightly wooded style or as a barrel fermented and lees aged wine which shows rich flavours and velvety mouth feel.

Although this wine is drinking well now with its fresh aromatic characters, you’ll be well rewarded if you put a few bottles away for several years. It will develop some luscious honey notes and complementary flinty minerality over the next few years.

2020 Patina ‘White Label’ Chardonnay$25.00 Add to cart
This is a lighter style than I normally produce as I wanted to mitigate the poor attributes of the season. It has a good acid balance making it bright and lively with a reasonably long finish.

Developed but fresh, smooth and well balanced with nothing obviously dominating the palate. This wine is fine in texture with apricot, stone fruit and apple balanced by a little creamy lees and a hint of butterscotch.

2001 Patina ‘Museum’ Cabernet Sauvignon (member only)$55.00 Read more
The 2001 Cabernet grapes came from a Orange vineyard and were less ripe than the field sample had indicated resulting in a wine that was quite high in acid and tannin making the wine too sharp when young but great attributes for a long living wine. I think it is drinking quite well now, albeit more of a French than Australian style.

2012 Patina ‘White Label’ Cabernet Merlot Dozen$159.84 Add to cart
I have always intended for Patina wines to represent excellent value and it has caused me some consternation not knowing what to do when a wine didn’t meet my standards for the copper Patina label. Due to the cool 2011 season the reds didn’t develop to their full potential, so I created the Patina White Label.
