96 Points “A bouquet of spiced and baked apples, peach skin, candied ginger and shortbread. Honey nougat, praline and lemon oil. This wine is beguiling in its aromatics and takes a left turn on the plate to roasted nuts and pools of texture. Laden with detail and flows effortlessly. It’s no wonder it has a cult following. Amaro bitters and five-spice on the finish. The flavours continue on and on.” 2024 Halliday Wine Companion, Shanteh Wale

95 Points “Serious Chardonnay. What a fabulous release that shows restraint and poise. Bravo!
It sees 40% new French oak yet it holds its shape and presence much better than the ‘entry level’ Chardonnay. The fruit drives with purpose and fills the mouth with ease. Peaches and pie apples with cinnamon dusted about. Some melted butter, vanilla and roasted nuts add further pleasure with some ginger rolling in late. The depth is captivating yet it’s not heavy handed. Top me up – it’s an excellent wine.” QWine Reviews, Oct 2023

The grapes were whole bunch pressed then fermented and aged for twelve months on lees in a combination of new and seasoned French and Hungarian Oak barrels. The Reserve Chardonnay represents the best of the vintage with only the best barrels making the grade. Alc/Vol 13.1%

Colour: Pale Straw Yellow

Aroma: The nose prepares you for a wine of complexity and finesse. Displaying nectarine with suggestions of pineapple and citrus with hints of nutty lees and nuances of French Oak.

Palate: The complex palate is rich and refreshing expressing enticing fruit integrated with delicate, nutty lees and judicious oak. It is very complex with the back palate lasting forever.

Cellaring: Orange Chardonnay generally complexes and improves quite dramatically during the first few years of bottle ageing. The good natural acid levels allow the oak and fruit to integrate resulting in a scrumptious wine to be savoured. It is drinking well now, and I expect it to become rounder and very scrumptious up to and possibly beyond 2031.
